NGC 2841 from last night

Post by Dunmunro » 16 Jan 2026, 21:25

This is another bright galaxy and bright star combination that creates problems, via internal reflections, for my ~25 year old SCT...

10in SCT at F8 via a Starizona LF SCT reducer, ASI071 MC Pro camera, 85 x 5min ( 7hrs 5min) subs on a CEM120 mount. All aspects of image acquisition, centring, autofocus and autoguiding, starting with the mount parked, was robotically controlled by Astroart-9 SP3. All processing with AA9 SP3. The bright star near the centre of the field causes problems for flat fielding which I corrected, mostly, with a mild gradient filter.
Processing history:
13:56:43 White balance 4 -1 -1 -1 2 -1 -1 -1
13:56:13 Flip horizontal
13:56:08 Remove gradient adaptive sub. 95
13:54:46 Local histogram equalization 10 2 80 0
13:50:30 DDP 95 5 0 30 50 1.37 40
13:45:54 Histogram stretch 65535 5731 23660 -1 0
13:43:43 Deconvolution Richardson Lucy 20 2 85 40
(Sigma sum stacking with flats and darks)
