NGC 507 / Arp 229

Post by Dunmunro » 15 Jan 2026, 18:01

NGC 507 / Arp 229 from January 12-13.

10in SCT at F8, ASI071 MC Pro camera,35 x 10min ( 5hrs 50min) subs on a CEM120 mount. All aspects of image acquisition, centring, autofocus and autoguiding, starting with the mount parked, was robotically controlled by AA9 SP3. All processing with AA9 SP3. I think I may need to run cooling at -10C rather than -5 when doing 600sec subs. Also the bright star near the centre of the field causes problems for flat fielding which I corrected with a mild gradient filter.

Processing history:
HISTORY Deconvolution "Richardson Lucy 15 2 95 40"
HISTORY Histogram stretch: 65535 2297 15996 -2 0
HISTORY DDP: 90 20 0 50 50 0 0
HISTORY Local histogram equalization: 10 1.9 81 0
HISTORY Multiscale Lowpass: 50 39 30 90
HISTORY White balance: 4 -1 -1 -1 2 -1 -1 -1
HISTORY Remove gradient adaptive sub.: 99
HISTORY Flip vertical
( copied from the fits header and this shows the processing steps in chronological order starting at the top of the list. Sigma sum stacking with flats and darks)
