Christmas Moon - Merry Christmas everyone!

Post by Dunmunro » 26 Dec 2025, 03:00

10in F5 SCT and an ASI071 camera

This is a stack of 10 x .01sec subs and I selected the same point on each image and used astroart to calculate the motion between images and used that to align the stack during preprocessing.

Processing history

19:45:30 Histogram stretch 65535 124 14392 -5 0

In this image I used some advanced processing:

21:18:50 Multiscale Highpass 2.62 1.46 0.686 0.192
21:16:32 Histogram stretch 65535 1 13375 -5 0
21:15:54 Deconvolution Richardson Lucy 40 1 70 40
21:12:08 Flip vertical
(also bias frames and flats)
Can you see the difference?

I also imaged the moon on Dec 25 with my 10in F8 SCT:
10 x .01sec subs - manual stacking
processing history
11:57:12 Flip horizontal
11:56:36 Multiscale Highpass 0.4 0.36 0.43 0.808
11:49:09 Histogram stretch 65535 18 85135 -5 0
11:48:19 Deconvolution Richardson Lucy 50 2 50 5 (gaussian star 2 sigma)
Maybe a bit over processed?
