Nova Sgr 2023

Hi

I was lucky enough to co-discover Nova Sgr 2023 (https://www.aavso.org/aavso-alert-notice-813) and I just like to say that AstroArt 8 played a big part in that. I use the blinking functionality to discover the transient and performed astrometry with AA8 to confirm the position. I use an 85mm lens so I appreciate the astrometry is not that precise but it's good enough when reporting a discovery position.

I find AA8 the best piece of software out there for my nova patrol.

Regards
Andrew Pearce

Awesome!

So you're using an 85mm camera lens on an equatorial mount?

Hi

No just a fixed tripod. The simpler the better!

Congratulations, that's very cool!!!

Did you manually blink or have You made a script to detect novae?

I manually blink using AA8.
