Automating stacking and reduction in sets of 5 images

Post by Wayne Hawley » 09 Dec 2023, 19:54

I take say 300 images of an object and want to increase the SNR by stacking them in sets of 5, I know I can do this manually in preprocessing by changing the set each time but is there a way to automate it so that it will grab five images, align, dark and flat correct them and save that image then do the next set until all 300 images are processed and saved?

Thanks in advance, Wayne

Hi, it can be done with a script, calling the Preprocessing function for every mini-set of 5 images. I can show an example, what is the name of the sequence files? Is this for an animation? (so 60 frames composed of 5 images each?)

May I ask what You want to obtain by this?
Why not just stack all, that will give the best s/n ratio.

Is it to create an animation of an object that moves? (Asteroid, comet, …)
