Color camera images: extract the 4 different color planes

Post by AstroBernd » 07 Feb 2021, 18:09

Maybe i am thinking backward, but can the following be done (easily) in AstroArt (or other software):

I want to extract the 4 different color planes of the raw images (before registering and stacking) of a one-shot color camera. The Bayer matrix is:
1. row RG1RG1 and so on
2. row G2BG2B and so on
I would like to extract each of the 4 planes (2 green planes, one red, one blue) separately as images of 1/4 of the original size, modify them and then re-create the original image. The goal is to create separate artifical flat fields for each color plane
Has anyone done this?
Thanks in Advance
Bernd

I don't think for flat framing it's a good idea - or artificial flats for that matter.
Why can't you make 'real' flats ?
Or just extract RGB ?

Thanks for your reply.
I am doing flats again since some time, but have not done them for some time (my bad) and want to post-correct some of those images.
I will go with the rgb extraction
