Image processing tutorials?

Post by Forum_2018 »

Hi,

I have been using AA6 for post processing of Deep Sky images the past year or so. But I still feel that I am experimenting my way ahead.
Is there any litterature or online tutorial material on the topic?
I have gotten a lot of help from fellow amateur astronomers a the danish astronomy site, but I still would like to see some tutorials.
Fabio, have You considered making a AA class?

And yes; I have read the AA5 user manual

Hi, about literature:
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i ... +astronomy
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c ... hotography
Astroart tutorials on youtube:
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=astroart

About a given image processing, I think that the most important question are: am I extracting everything from my images? Is this the best possible result? But it's possible to reply only looking at the number and quality of raw images. 4 hours of stacked images processed with a bad software will give a better result than 30 minutes processed with a good one.

Hi Fabio,
Thanks for the references. I have off course found and seen the YouTube videos. But I had hoped for some "class room tutorials", going into depth on each of the functionalities, one at the time, in AA.
And yes- I agree with your last statement, however, the s/n ratio as a function of exposure time curve flattens (square root), so, depending on your gear, you reach a point, where an hour more or less doesn't make much of a difference :D

Can I please jump in on this thread, is there possibly going to be a pdf version of AA6 as I seem to have misplaced mine?
