LRGB processing

Post by Forum_2016 »

Hi All,

I am getting into using AA6 for some color processing. I have been taking subs in RGB at 2x2 binning on an SBIG ST8xme. I am then combining with Luminance subs taken at 1x1 binning. I can perform a RGB trichromy operation, which gives me a 765x510 color image. If I then do an LRGB combine, it seems I must first reduce the 1530x1020 luminance image to 765x510 before combining. This effectively lowers the resolution of the resulting image to that of the color subs. I would like to retain the resolution of the luminance image and not be held to the lower resolution of the color subs. Is their a way to do this and if so how?

Any comments or suggestions would be very much appreciated. This my first post so forgive me if this is dumb question.

Hi,
a recommended procedure is:
1) Resize the RGB image to 1530x1020 (you could make a Macro for it).
2) (optional) Close the old RGB image.
3) (if needed) Select the new RGB image and click Image/Align (or Align All)
4) click Color/LRGB combine.
Clear skies,
Fabio.

Hi Fabio,

Many thanks, I'll try that procedure. While I'm at it, many thanks for a great program, it is working very well with my SBIG ST8xme, autoguiding with dual chip. Tracking errors on my 20+ year old Vixen SP DX mount when binning 2x2 on the guide chip have been AvgDE=0.18, AvgRa=0.28. (mount is retro-fiitted with Skywatcher GOTO).
