starlight xpress camera power-on sequence

Post by ajtdebruin » 22 Jan 2026, 16:53

Dear all,
I use a SXV-814 and a Lodestar2. When all is connected (via an usb hub) when powering-up the SXV-814 will connect in the camera control but gives no image. Just black.
However If I power up and then manually connect the SXV-814 usb first and then after waiting several seconds I plug in the Lodestar2 all works fine.
Is it normal that Starlight Xpress cameras are so critical in the way they power up and are usb connected?
I do use all the latest drivers etc..

Cheers, Arnold

Are you using ASCOM? if so you can use the ASCOM diagnostics to try and track down the error.

I was helping a friend setup an ASI2600duo and we had to modify the Camera Control->setup->Options window to ensure proper function:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=984

I wonder if this might help your setup?

I'll have a look at it as soon as possible!
Thank you, I'll let you know.
