Driver for Starlight Express Trius SXVR-M26C

Post by Forum_2017 »

Is there a native driver for the above camera? The 2 different drivers on the website do not return the right number of pixels. Or which settings have to be used?
If not, which ASCOM driver works for this camera?
Any help appreciated.
Bernd

There is not a complete Astroart driver for the M26C, but on the Starlight-Xpress site you can find an ASCOM driver which supports all SX cameras:

http://www.daddog.com/ascom/sxcamera
http://www.sxccd.com/drivers-downloads

-------

If you are interested to take a look at the (incomplete) driver, it's available here:

http://www.msb-astroart.com/dsxvm26c_beta.zip

The issues are:

1) Binning 4x4 is not supported, only 1x1 and 2x2 are.
2) The image is downloaded in the original ccd orientation (portrait, e.g. vertical, but you may rotate it automatically with the interface 6.2).
3) Lack of complete testing.

Fabio,
It seems that CCD interface 6.2 can rotate images 180 deg only. IMO it should be better to have the 90deg options as well in order to move from portrait to landscape format. Can be added?
Thanks.

Correct, 180° only at the moment.
90° is under development, please write me by PM or email to receive the pre-release of Service Pack 2.

Fabio,
Thank you for the link to the Ascom and Astroart Beta drivers. I got your Beta driver to work with AstroArt 6 and both CCD plugins (6.0 and 6.2beta) right away, except for the 90° orientation, obviously. Not a problem to me as of now.
Would it help if I "volunteer" to test the driver? What would it take? May I give you feedback on my way along? What information will you need?

The original SX-Software has an option for 2x2 color binning. Would that be possible in your driver as well, eventually? Not a necessity right now.
Appreciate all your work and help
Bernd

Hello Bernd,
it would be useful to test it with the new 6.2 (please write me by PM or email to receive it) to verify that the 90° rotation works correctly.
The binning 2x2 color will never be supported because its protocol is too complicated, but Astroart 6.0 let you bin 2x2 during the demosaic, which gives much better results.
