Guiding - Dark Frame/Hot Pixel Options

Post by Forum_2016 »

Hello,
I am using AA6 on one computer for guiding, and another for imaging.
For guiding, the User’s Manual - Focus/Guide page, details the process for focusing as:
Take a full frame image then select a rectangle around a star;
I now wish to use the Dark Frame Option so I cover my scope (no electronic shutter)
Click the focus button.
My first question – is the first image to appear in the Focus window the image which “becomes” the Dark?

Second - is the process the same where I choose only the Hot Pixel option?
If not, what needs to be done to use the Hot Pixel option?

Finally, as the system allows both these options to be selected at the same time, what might be the result?

Regards,

Patrick.

Hello,

1) Yes, only the first frame becomes the dark frame. In the future there will be an option to average the first N# frames for a even grater S/N ratio.

2-3) The Hot Pixel option is just a filter, it's independent from the dark frame. You may use it with or without the dark frame option.

Kind regards,
Fabio.
