Basic configuration (for beginner)

Post by Forum_2015 »

I am still on the demo version. For testing AAv5 I planned to connect via POTH so that I could have a separate program running as a check. I started POTH then AAv5. I connected POTH to the actual scope (no problems) but AAv5 did not offer any POTH connection and the ASCOM option wouldn't connect. Is POTH not available to AAv5?

Lawrence, I use AA5 and see POTH in the ASCOM chooser so it should be there? If your scope has an ASCOM driver you may not need to use POTH, some ASCOM drivers have built in hubs. I use the Takahashi ASCOM driver to connect to AstroArt and Stellarium scope.

AstroArt telescope GOTO does not include planets, stars were added with the last user interface. The great thing about ASCOM is once the scope, planetarium and AstroArt are connected together the GOTO's are done with the planetarium and AstroArt can plate solve and sync the scope. It's a joy to use.
