Hello, unless you need to send precise astrometric measures, there's not need to use other catalogues. By the way the UCAC4 contains more stars and it's more precise:

Re: gsc1.1
Hello, nothing has changed from AA6 to AA7 about the GSC: I suggest to check the Options of the star atlas, "Catalog 1" folder, verify that it's the same in AA6 and AA7. If you have AA6 and AA7 in the same PC, open them side by side to compare the star atlas options.
Greetings, Fabio.

Re: Focus a spectrum
Hi, yes, that procedure is exact. The function is intended for reference lamps which give bright emission lines. The emission line must be vertical. The numbers are not significative, simply the higher the better. It was suggested some time ago by Ken from: http://astronomicalspectroscopy.com/ Clear...

Re: Precision loss during stacking when input is in integer FITS format
Hello, here is some info: In Preprocessing all the steps are performed in floating point, the roundation to integer is performed only at the end, to keep the same format of the initial images. This could be used to obtain the desired result, just open the first image of the sequence, convert it to f...

Re: Astroart 7.0 SP4
Astroart 7 SP4 contains a new full-frame autoguide, with the additional features: Usage of all stars. If several "good" stars are present in the field, then those stars are used to autoguide, just like when stacking a sequence of images. Automatic exposure time. If the star is too faint, then the ex...

Re: EOS 1000d remote shotstring could not find.
Hello,
I suggest to don't use the older Canon plugin which requires Canon Shooting, instead use the native plugin included in the AA7 installation. Remember to select the option "Digic III old camera". Canon Shooting must not be running.

Updated Nikon plugin - D850
Hello, an updated plugin for Nikon cameras is available at the Astroart web site:
http://www.msb-astroart.com/
The camera D850 is now supported.
The plugin also contains initial support for the new mirrorless (Z6, Z7, Z50) but they are not tested yet.
Clear skies,
Fabio.

Re: Stars coloring
Maybe the fastest way is the Brush tool of the Mask Window, using "Add" mode.
So, just do a single click on every star of the same color, then you may color-correct all stars with a single processing. Does this helps?

Re: saving directly keyed instructions as short scripts
Hello, I don't understand well the question, do you mean a Macro ? There's the commands "Define Macro" and "Apply Macro", then you can launch them with the "1" "2" "3" "4" buttons. inside a script you could use: Image.Macro(n) to launch a macro. or Image.Formula() Or maybe you meant that from the Se...

Re: bias fits vs data fits frames with cmos camera
Hello, are you sure about the 8000? Usually when there's a signed/unsigned problem in supporting FITS the background is wrongly read as 32000. By the way: unsigned data does not exist in the FITS standard, if an image has a range 0..65535 (like your light images) then the ADUs must be shifted into t...

Re: Slew to star of given magnitude
OK.
Using the fullframe autofocus there's no need to search for a bright star, just autofocus on the same field of the subject. The combined measure of all stars of the field can actually be better and safer than a single measure on a brighter star.
