Re: Download speed on ASCOM vs. native drivers
Fabio, thanks for your quick reaction. I agree, the added latency added by the ASCOM driver doesn't sound like a lot and is not bad, BUT if the native driver downloads up to 6fps full frame in 1x1, it is still more than an order of magnitude slower. Yes, the QHY268C and the corresponding ASI ZWO 260...

Re: Download speed on ASCOM vs. native drivers
This is about the different behaviors of the drivers supplied by camera manufacturers: First, i have taken Rudi's calculation (see below) for the QHY268C (APS-C, 16bit, 26.8MPixel) and get a max theoretical frame rate per sec(fps) on USB3 (max 5GBit/s) of: 6280 x 4210 pixels @16BPP = 423,020,800 (43...

Re: Download speed on ASCOM vs. native drivers
I fully agree, Rudi, no big deal for deep sky images, but a lot of possible “unproductive “ time saving.

Download speed on ASCOM vs. native drivers
I noticed that the download speed of images is much slower in ASCOM vs. native drivers in my new QHYCCD CMOS camera (QHY268C). When i use Sharpcap, i see 5.6 images/ second (fps) downloaded and stored as FITS files without any dropped frames. So, the whole setup (camera, driver, USB3, Software, hard...

Re: 32 vs 64 bit
Thanks Fabio for the reminder on this.
I am hitting the memory limits of the standard AA version with a new CMOS camera, 26Mpixels at 16bit and i will try the LAA version for image capture.
All the Best
Bernd

Re: Statistics window: exclude edge columns/ rows?
Fabio, Thanks for the quick reply. I agree, this would be the quickest way to deal with it and it would feed clean data into the software for the next steps. I checked out how this was for my cameras over the years: From the 5 cameras i have been using over the years with different drivers, only my ...

Statistics window: exclude edge columns/ rows?
Is there a possibility to exclude the dark rows/ columns that each CCD or CMOS chip has at the edges for read-out for statistics, Auto display and demosaik of the OSC images, for ex.? this would help during acquisition (auto-display), pre-processing and statistics. Maybe an option in the settings to...

Re: Astroart 7.0 SP4 - Bahtinov mask help
After the summer w/o photgraphing (thru the scope at least), i tried out the Bahtinov function in the focussing aid. It works great!
Thanks
Fabio
Thanks

Re: Processing History
To emphasize what the Rudi and Wes have posted, i also think this would be neat, not only for the preprocessing (which works great and always amazes users of other, more popular software), but also to record and remember the steps after pre-processing. I am reprocessing images taken with differnet c...

Re: Astroart 7.0 SP4
Thanks Fabio, for the quick reply. That makes perfect sense.
Looking forward to test it out on a bright star (the example was obviously w/o a Bahtinov mask).
Thanks a lot

Re: Astroart 7.0 SP4 - Bahtinov mask
Hello Fabio, i was excited to find out you implemented a Bahtinov mask Focusing method. This will be very helpful for Hyperstar focusing, so i am very excited to have it available in AA7! Thanks a lot! I tested it quickly with the simulator, but could not understand how it works. I can not test on t...

Re: Connection to aladin website fails on AA7 SP1
Fabio, it works with http: in my Internet Explorer on a WIn10 machine. It does NOT work in Internet Explorer on a Win7 Prof machine (my Laptop to run the mount, telescope and camera). I checked the settings side by side but could not find where the difference really is. I checked out the https: alad...
