Re: Use of Drizzle function to improve low resolution spectra?????
Hmmm I found the reference to Drizzle but not the method of applying during pre-processing??? From the Help menu: Drizzle 200%. Doubles the size of all images to increase the resolution IF THE IMAGES ARE UNDERSAMPLED. You can easily recognize an astronomical undersampled image: its stars are 1 - 2 p...

Use of Drizzle function to improve low resolution spectra?????
I've just seen a spectral image taken with a SA200 grating which seems to have dramatic improved when stacked and "Drizzled" combined. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drizzle_(image_processing) Is this a function which could be added to AstroArt6?????? --------- "Astronomical Spectroscopy - The Final ...

Re: Can not do photometry on FITS file
Thank you for the interesting tutorial. In the next Service Pack 2 there will be a command to that more quickly. Meanwhile, the Service Pack 1 contains a partial support for quick one-star photometry: 1) Open the image and click the reference star. 2) Open the Stars Window and click Edit from the co...

Re: Can not do photometry on FITS file
Hi Fabio, Thanks for the reply. And sorry for my late reply. I found another way to do accurate photometry by using only the green channel, something like this: My setup gives a FOV of approximately 2° by 1°3. The magnitude of the variable is asumed to be in the range 13-15, therefore AAVSO Chart X1...

Re: Can not do photometry on FITS file
Hi, the severe asymmetric coma/focus could be the cause, but I see that you can solve using the UCAC4 catalog, instead of the default GSC, (which cannot be used for good photometry anyway). FindCoordinate uses a pattern database while "Photometry/Astrometric automatic stars" uses the catalog that is...

Can not do photometry on FITS file
Hi, The other night I caught 10 lights each of 30 seconds of IRAS 19597+2258 in order to measure it's V mag. I have tried the following in AstroArt: 1) Open a single RAW: IMG_0042.CR2 (http://b-rasmussen.dk/astro/2016/0824/IMG_0042.CR2) 2) Press "Find coordinates" button in order to platesolve, writ...

Re: AA5 crash in processing large number of files
Hello, install the Service Pack 5 for AA5 and use only the LAA version. Be sure that the Astroart desktop is empty before launching a critical stacking.
BTW median is usually bad as S/N, much better Sigma or Average+Hot pixel correction.

AA5 crash in processing large number of files
Trying to process 600 color raw files (taken with ASI174MC Cool).
First time I succeeded while used average stacking method.
And succeeded stacking 150 with sigma.
But larger (300 median) all crashing.
Have 16GB memory.

Re: AA6 crash due to image size?
Hello,
for a 10000 x 7000 (color) image you will probably need the LAA version of Astroart, under Windows 64 bit.
See the manual about LAA.
(if instead the image is grayscale, be sure to save it as grayscale TIFF. That will be opened easily)
Greetings,
Fabio.

AA6 crash due to image size?
Hello y'all,
first time since I use AA6 I ran into a problem. Having TIFF images of about 5000x3500 pixels, all works fine. If I resample them to double size (FITSwork) and reload them into AstroArt, the program hangs or crashes ("AstroArt has stopped working").
Any suggestions?
Greetings, Gerd
