Re: removing the bright sun from an image
Hi, it can be done both via image processing and via masks. Here are a couple of examples: 1) Make a duplicate of the image (F2) then Filter / Histogram Stretch to attenuate the prominences and keep only the disk. If the image is 8 bit write "255" as New Range. Apply, then OK. FilterStep1.jpg 2) Fil...

Updated Canon plugin
Hello, an updated plugin for Canon camera is available:
http://www.msb-astroart.com/
this just supports the new cameras released in the last 6 months. If your camera is already supported there's no need to upgrade.
Fabio.

Re: Remote, How to hide Camera Control and Script Editor
Hello, the AA_SCRIPT_HIDE is still not implemented, so it can be added in Service Pack 5 this september. Please write by email for the prerelease. About starting on second monitor, this can be added too.

Re: ucac 4
Hi, the horizontal size of several Messier images (M63, 67, 81, etc.) is 13.5 arcminutes. There's a mini tutorial with the M67 image in the Help about "Find coordinates".

Calibration pulses for AO in SP4
Hello, as written in the thread about the SP4 release, if you use an AO, remember to decrease in the Guide Options the duration of the calibration pulses, from 800 to 500 ms, otherwise the AO limits may be reached during the calibration itself:

Re: Astroart 7.0 SP4
instead, for some Active Optics it's recommended to decrease the calibration pulses to 500 ms, otherwise it's possible that the limits are reached during the calibration procedure.

Images from PanSTARRS
Hello, I've just been told that it's not possible to open Panstarr images with Astroart: http://ps1images.stsci.edu/ The problem is that those images are not " Simple FITS ": they are encoded as a binary table , in compressed format. This is not supported. By the way, it's still possible to study th...

Re: Astroart 7.0 SP4
Yes, in SP4 you will see notifications in the status bar if the apparent telescope speed is lower than 0.75 pixels per second or higher than 12.0 (telescope too fast). As a general rule, If the speed is too slow, then the guide pulses will be too long and this will decrease the frame rate so the "ef...

Re: Astroart 7.0 SP4
Hello Bernd, the six dots are automatically placed on the six spikes of the Bahtinov mask (which are not present in your screenshot, see the Wikipedia link above for some examples). To view the six spikes you need a bright star. The buttons place the dots nearer or farther the star. Usually there's ...
