What are these?

They are present throughout the whole frame. Thinking that they might be Hot Pixels, I applied the hot pixel filter to each one of the 20 x 5mins subs before dark frame subtraction, aligning and stacking (Sum). I Suspect that they are hot pixels, which have been elongated during guiding, and thus be...

Re: Gain setting conundrum

While using the native driver in Sharpcap, I can save the image in FITS format, and of course read the FITS header. A gain setting of 100 is shown it FITS header as 100. No problem. When I choose ASCOM, The only option is 12 bit mono, the only format option is PNG. Thus the image is saved as a PNG f...

Re: Gain setting conundrum

I will try that at the next opportunity Fabio, and let you know the result.

Re: Gain setting conundrum

Ok, I have just run the Sharpcap sensor analysis on the 294c using the ASCOM camera control. Unfortunately, I am none the wiser, because the resulting table, graph, and gain numbers, are identical to that obtained using the 'native' Altair driver. So even though under ASCOM control, it still returns...

Re: Gain setting conundrum

Hi Fabio

Thanks for that Fabio.

I will have a look at that Link, and also re-run the sensor analysis using the Ascom driver in Sharpcap, then report back here.

I never thought of that option, "good thinking Batman" :D

Regards

Gain setting conundrum

Sensor analysis on the Hyprercam 294c Pro camera. Now having a good quality Light Panel, with a variable output, primarily for 'Flats', this afternoon, I ran a Sensor Analysis using the excellent application in Sharpcap. I did this when I first bought the camera, but with a less suitable light sou...

Thanks Iver, and Fabio.

Yes, its is for finite manual centering after Plate Solve.

I will try as you suggest Fabio, thank you.

AA control panel

When I open AA, the control panel (as in attached image) pops up in the centre of the screen, which as a 'floating window' I can move around. If I connect the camera and scope simulators, I can still move it around. However when I use AA8 for real, the panel remains in the centre of the screen, and ...

Re: Native camera drivers

Hi Fabio, Thank you for your response. Not a major issue as the ASCOM works ok with AA8. It was just that having the option to use either native drivers, or ASCOM in Sharpcap Pro, I find that using the native drivers is preferable, at least to me. I appreciate that for software developers the ASCOM ...

Native camera drivers

Is it possible to install the native divers for cameras, in my case an Altair Hypercam 294c Pro Tec, and an Altair GPCAM30 (guide camera) into AA8, and if so, how? The native drivers give greater control than does ASCOM. In Sharpcap Pro, I can use either, and using the native drivers is the preferre...

Re: Plate solving in AA8

I started out in astro imaging, when I retired in 2002. The first project was to build a roll-off-roof observatory, and after the first winter I added a warm room :) . The RoR obsy worked fine, unless it was very windy, which caused problems with the 12" SCT on a fork mount. So in 2008, I built an o...

Re: Plate solving in AA8

Thanks for your input guys, it is much appreciated. I will continue investigating AA8's Plate Solving function, indoors while this cloud persists. I don't want to be wasting imaging opportunities on it, while I have a very effective Sharpcap/All Sky Plate Solver combination to use. As I said earlier...
