Re: Plate Solving - No Luck
I did have issues with plate solving a few months ago as well. See also https://www.astroart-forum.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=637 The resolution came when having the horizontal field well defined with just a few % (<10%) variation allowed. 20% or even 50% as I can see in your screen shots has bee...

Re: Where is the GAIA catalog?
If you look in the e-mail with your access data to AA8, there should be a section with optional downloads.
In my case it read:
"The following downloads are optional:"
I tested the links again and they seem to work fine.
Hope this helps

Re: Error message "Not Found - GSC..."
The directory for the star catalogs are not in the program folder, but in the <username> documents folder, depending on your installation choices. In AA8, you can even use a compressed GAIA DR2 catalog. Check also your settings in the tab “star atlas”.
Hope this helps.

Re: Starnet++ usage example
Sorry, I found the answer myself in the "General" subforum: "Re: Plugin for Starnet++ Post by TKnightKY » 21 Apr 2021, 04:59 All you need to do is reopen the original image with the stars and then subtract the starless image from the original image leaving only the stars. Sometimes it doesn't subtra...

Re: Starnet++ usage example
Dumb question:
How do you re-add the stars after processing the nebula? How is your workflow in detail?
Thanks for your patience

Re: Starnet v2
Thanks Morten, Yes it works for me as well by just renaming the starnet++.exe into BOTH mono_starnet++.exe and a separate one into rgb_starnet++.exe. And, as you showed, much better results, especially on overexposed stars. Next will be to make use of the GPU and see how much faster that can be. Goo...

Re: Starnet v2
You guys made me curious. So, I checked it out yesterday and it seems that they have made public not only the version V2.0 with the GUI and for PixInsight, but also a version with command line input just yesterday. Check out the github link (See below)! As a complete newbie to Starnet++, i can't tel...

Re: Plate solving in AA8
I wanted to report back on my issue reg. plate solve and center. Finally, we had some small holes in the clouds on last Sunday evening, i was able to check the plate-solving and "center (platesolve)" in AA8 and it worked spot-on, even with partly clouded out images (really bad). The main issue was r...

Re: AA8 Enhancements
Thanks Fabio,
I started using the bookmarks.
3) i wasn’t clear enough. I meant the position and size of the window of the star atlas. In addition, the parameters settings within the star atlas always have to be redone.

Thanks dunmonro,
That’s my process as well. I will double check at the next opportunity (weather here is dreadful).
