Re: Full Frame Focus Exposure Time By Filter

Hi Joe, I was assuming you were not able to guide with the relay port on the Gemini at all and were using the serial (RS232) connection in PHD for both Goto & Guiding. I'll have to look through some old notes of mine with configuration parameters when I was using the Gemini-1 with Astroart 4 & 5 and...

Re: Full Frame Focus Exposure Time By Filter

Hi Joe, Regarding using the autoguider port on your Gemini-1, you may have non-functioning guider IC circuit. Depending on the version of your Gemini-1, Round DIN or RJ style jacks, this FAQ may help you. https://gemini-2.com/faqG1.html#Q17 I have both G1 & G2 on 2 separate mounts and have used a Lo...

Re: Sub region for histogram

Hi John,

You could make a duplicate image, F2
Then select a rectangle of the region of interest freehand or CTRL+R and select using the dialog box, and choose Crop from the image menu.
With the cropped image, select histogram to show the data.

Re: AllCometEls.txt vs CometEls.txt

If you still want to use the smaller truncated data file CometsEls.txt (971 entries) it's available here; https://www.minorplanetcenter.net/iau/M ... metEls.txt

The AllCometsEls.txt data file currently has 4,576 entries.

Re: apply a filter to many images automatically

Hi Astrobob0 Define a macro using the DDP values you want (double click DDP to bring up the dialog) and save the Macro. Then use the command Apply Macro, selecting the files you want to apply the DDP filter to and choosing the macro you previously defined. Make sure you select Save Images check box ...

Re: Plate solving - confused about catalogs

Hi Jack, I find that the new catalog (GaiaComp) that is supplied with AA8 works well for plate solving and I personally have not used UCAC4 since this new catalog was released. Extract the contents of the .ZIP file to its own directory and use the star atlas options to point to this location. Here i...

Re: Preprocessing - Error images - auto skip?

Hi Jack,
On the options page in preprocessing there is a Reject Bad Images section.
Maybe try the option of selecting and setting the Sky Background value high enough to reject the cloudy images?

Just a thought...

Re: ucac 4

Hi cjacobson, You can use an ftp client to access and download the UCAC4 catalog here: ftp://cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr/cats/I/322A/UCAC4/ Take note that there is no one single data file to download but many in separate directories. Total data to download will be about 8.4GB I don't have the info. for the ...
