Re: Alt-az mounts
I am curious to know whether others have plans similar to mine. My next telescope setup will use an alt-az mount. While until recently the combination of an alt-az mount and a rotator was the province of very large professional telescopes, it is increasingly available for small telescopes, and thes...

Re: using AA8 via The Sky X
Are there any members who are using AstroArt xx via The Sky X to control Software Bisque paramount GEM. I am doing this with AA8 and I have the necessary ASCOM Sky X driver from software Bisque. I think I'm having some problems using the AA8's goto - image -plate solve and synch on camera image, re...

Re: Camera Control Setup tab - Scripts
In the Camera Control SETUP tab, can someone please explain what is the purpose of the Scripts choice? It appears that while an existing script can be selected from the Library, there can only be one recorded? When does such a script run? It appears that to remove that script one must select New? R...

Re: Astroart 8 Install on new Windows 11 computer
I have installed SP3 with no problems using the method you mentioned but SP4 doesn't install the same way. SP4 is an auto installation file where it installs the files in the correct directory for you. SP4 download is an application file not a copy and paste file. It installed fine in Windows 8.1 M...

Re: calibration (dark,Flat & Bias
I'm new to Astroart8. My familiarity with similar software is MaxIm Ver 6.14 and the sky X with which I've found calibration of images fairly simple. 1. Can I create master darks, flats etc that I could load and use for calibration instead of load say the 20 + images taken for each (akin to MaxIM) ...

Re: Full Frame Focus Exposure Time By Filter
Iver, Thanks. I did use those settings which worked just fine. I did run into a number of problems though, not related to the GOTO connection. Initially I couldn’t get a good image from the guide camera, all I got was a black image with no data. I disconnected/reconnected the guide camera a few tim...

Re: Full Frame Focus Exposure Time By Filter
All, I’m really liking AA8, especially when moving along the learning curve quickly! I ran into another dilemma and looking for a solution. I have an 8 position filter wheel with LRGB and narrow band filters. When auto-focusing I’ve been using 3 seconds exposures for the LRGB filters and 30 seconds...
