Re: Plate solving parameters in Telescope control Centering
Hi, the plate solving engine cannot be used to send positions to the MPC, it's too risky since the precision will be unknown. It's designed only for speed and reliability, so only for telescope centering. Once the image is plate solved, the procedure is: 1) Click the Atlas icon to center the Star At...

Processing DSLR images in JPEG mode
Hello, I was asked what are the best settings to stack astronomical JPEG images from DSLRs. Well, since the images are 8 bit, there are just two good options: SUM and SIGMA+SUM. Today I received the following result image: Sigma+Sum stacking of 14 images, 120 seconds each exposure, 4 dark frames (ev...

Re: Alt-az mounts
It's an interesting feature. Actually it's also easy to develop, and it's already possible to do it with a script. If you like to test the script please write me by email or PM. If this becomes common, maybe in the future this could be part of the ASCOM standard ? So that it's automatically availabl...

Re: Problem using Ultrastar PRO guide camera
Hello, select "None" as "Integrated guider". Then connect the UltraStar as a common guide camera, using the second SETUP button.
The selection is grayed out if an "integrated guider" is selected in the main camera, or if the main camera is not connected yet.
Fabio.

Re: SER files
Hi, they are not supported for acquisition, but they are supported for image stacking (just like AVI). Just put a SER file into the "Images" box of Preprocessing, all frames will be automatically extracted, aligned and stacked. About acquisition, if your need is fast image download (to optimize a se...

Re: calibration (dark,Flat & Bias
Hi Eric, if you need to pass every image of a sequence to another software, then the option "Save all images" is required, and it adds the "_P" suffix to all filenames. Some video-tutorials will be released in October, with the release of AA8 SP5. Meanwhile, if you like, write more details about you...

Re: calibration (dark,Flat & Bias
Hi, the "_P" is added when the option "Save all images" is enabled. This option is not required if you need to create a master dark frame or flat field.
This option is useful only to pass the corrected sequence (corrected for darks and flats, or aligned) to another software.
Fabio.
